It's looking like I'll be moving to Knoxville in the next month or two and was wondering if anyone on POA flew in the area. I'm currently an instrument rated SEL private pilot, and am part of a very reasonably priced flying club outside of Atlanta.

While I'd love to be a part of a 2-3 person partnership in a mooney or bo, I'm thinking a club may be easier to find. Does anyone have experience with any of the clubs in Knoxville? Looks like there are 2 options in oak ridge, one out of sky ranch, and one out of DKX. I'll be in west Knoxville so I'd be willing to drive to any of those airports.

Thanks for the help!

I fly out of oak ridge and knox. For oak ridge I'd join the "oak ridge flyers" has about 40 member only about 10 actually fly any kind of amount. Buy in is 1k ish but 60 per month dues is cheap plane rates are cheap 76 for a 172, 129 for a 182 55-60 for the champ and aerobat. Nicer equipped than the other club both the 172 and 182 have garmin 530s 182 has auto pilot. High engine times on the 172 but theres money in the bank for a reman. Club is stable no drama.
Downside is grass field can be "closed" jan and feb if it rains and gets soggy but they usually move a plane or two to dkx in that case. Stay away from sky ranch no one i've flown with at dkx or TN08 has had anything good to say.
DKX club is decent buy in is lower at 350 monthly 85. Planes are nice the DA20 always seems down with some ailment, they also fly a lot more so less free on the schedule but then your flying newer stuff at a convenient airport. Rates are 105 and 110 for the piper 140 and archer III. 160ish for the 182 rg. Bit of drama but not bad, some members want to buy a light sport some want a twin some want rid of the da20 but no blood feuds lol.

I'd be happy to show you around oak ridge or dkx not a member of the knox flyers but my buddy is. TN08 and kdkx are both about 30 min from west knox, dkx might be a few min faster.

Thanks for the info, I was actually leaning toward oak ridge flyers due to the champ and 182, and was expecting a much higher buy in due to the hourly rates. I'll let you know when I get in town and will likely end up joining.
