Anyone doing database updates on a Bendix/King KLN-94 GPS using a Sandisk ImageMate SDDR-31 card reader may find this useful. I have not been able to get it to work with Windows 10, but Windows 7 works.

1) Download Windows 7 ISO
http://care.dlservice.microsoft.com..._EVAL_Eval_Enterprise-GRMCENXEVAL_EN_DVD .iso

2) Download VirtualBox
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

3) Install VirtualBox and launch it, then create a new virtual machine
Select New
Name: Win7
Type: Microsoft Windows
Version: Windows 7 (64-bit)

Select Settings > Storage > select on the DVD icon to add optical storage
and point it to the Windows 7 DVD ISO you downloaded.

Remove any other optical storage devices listed so it will boot off the Win7
one.

Select Ok to save settings, then on the VirtualBox Manager screen select
Start to launch the guest Win7 OS. It should boot into the Win7 setup,
install Win7 on the virtual machine.

4) From inside the guest Win7 OS, download and install Visual C++ 2008
Redistrubutable Package.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=10430
Filename: vcredist_x86.exe

5) From inside the guest Win7 OS, download and install the Bendix/King GPS
data loader:
https://wingmanservices.bendixking.com/wingman/av8or/Win-7_compatible_GPSDat abaseLoader-1.0.exe

6) After the GPS data loader is installed, right select on the icon and Run
as Administrator

7) Plug in the Sandisk ImageMate SDDR-31. On the VirtualBox guest OS window
select Devices > USB > SanDisk Corporation ImageMate CompactFlash (this will
enable it to be seen by the guest OS, which can be verified by looking in
device manager on the guest OS under Disk Drives).

8) In the GPS data loader program select Tools > Read Database Key From > a
Card in an ImageMate. It will give message that Windows 7 takes about 15 to
20 mins to detect the database card, select the retry button it should only
take a few minutes. If it still does not read it, select cancel and repeat
this step. It should give a message asking if you have put a non-KLN 94 card
into the ImageMate, select No.

This should then read the card and give you the key on the Database Card
which you will need to download a new database from Bendix/King.

This also lets you do the database update with Linux running the Win7 VM.
