How about a breakfast get-together in Janesville on Saturday, 2/2/08, to celebrate the re-opening of the restaurant there? I'm thinking get together around 10:00AM.

I'll say maybe right now. My step dad is still pretty sick, I will have just returned from from some travel and may jus thead straight to Florida for the day to see him. I'll know more in about a week. But it does sound like a great idea.

i may be able to get a student to fly me up there. will just have to see

Grant, hopefully Kent and I will be able to attend... we'll confirm ASAP!

10 is OKAY. 11:00 is NOT, I have to be at the Civic Center in PIA by 2:00 p.m for my daughter's All State Orchestra concert. If I'm not there it's EGG Egg egg.

If I am there I will be there in something different. Inspection being done that week on the new birdy.

Hey Ed, I hear there's a Beech Sierra for rent near you... ;)

Does your dad need another dual cross country? Did he get his ticket yet or what? Sounded like he was very close at labor day.

I hear there are bullet holes going to be put in it as well.

Dad has been signed off for practical, weather said he's not ready.

Keep us informed, and tell him we wish him success!

Hope you can find a way to make it over here!

Cool! Hopefully the weather will hold up. I've got the 210 booked! (I want to become more familiar with it before Alaska!)

Matt - still planning on going? Might end up being a little far for most of my students budgets...

I wrapped up my BFR today, :D so if this is still on I'm there (VFR weather permitting.)

Note to self: don't wait until the dead of winter for the next BFR - pick spring, summer or fall!

Weather was great today (for the first time in 60 days, or so it seems), and the air was glass smooth. A few steep turns, 0.5 hours under the hood (1st time since getting my license ), unusual attitude recovery, 1 stall, a couple of landings, and that was it. I guess I thought it would be more like a mini-checkride, but it was pretty interactive and relaxed. My goal is to have an instrument checkride to serve as my BFR before I actually need another one.

Just for future reference... It doesn't matter what time of year you try to 'squeeze in' a BFR. If you're trying to get a BFR completed so you can make a trip, it is guaranteed that the weather will be FUBAR for two weeks solid. ;)

cool grant, I think Matt Sawhill and I are going to try to make it in the 140 weather permitting.

I'll try to make it provided I can get my BFR done by then.

otherwise I may just htch a ride with Kent.

Pete

Shoot.. This is turning out to be a pretty nice get-together. Maybe I'll see if anyone from the flying club from school wants to make it into a 'club trip'. Get some new blood into the Blue Board fold. I think if I can get two other club members to go, the club will pay for part of the costs.. hmmm...

My plane is still down. I need a new alternator and the new one is being ordered. If it is available I will be able to fly. If not can I get a ride from someone? 3CK would be the closest pick up point.

If you change that Avatar I might be able to help.....

That is if I can get my BFR by then

Pete

just seen the post...the club's 152 is open so the wife and i might stop in.

Scott, eye might fly you up - that is if the weather is okay. Long range forecast is for Saturday to have low cloud cover and snow flurries. Sunday is looking better. Should we have Sunday as a "weather" day?

70% cloud cover and 20% chance of snow. Sounds like a piece of cake. We're there.

FAA medical at 9:00am in St. Charles, but weather permitting, could make KJVL by 11:00. Weather permitting, going to give it a try.

Im with Matt. Have a student in Ames at 2 PM but we should be able to make it back by then

Ok.. Are we close enough to J-day that someone familiar with the area can set up the 'definite' plans? So far, I *think* the plan is to arrive 10am? Can someone from up 'yonder post the 'skinny' (official time, where to park, etc.) for the event? Sounds like dad was looking for somewhere to go Saturday, so he's gonna come pick me up and we'll buzz up that way in the RV. So ya'll will finally get to meet the 'real' RV builder - not the poser that I am. :)

I called them today and verified that they are open and told them we're having a flyin at about 10:00. I think that we can expect about 17 people, right? There's ramp space right outside the restaurant. Just tell ground you're going to the restaurant.

Please update the following list!
Grant & Leslie
Bruce (& Sue?)
Chris & Dad
Matt & Tony
Barry
Scott M (drizz) & wife
Scott Migaldi? (with someone, since he's changed his avatar :))
Pete & buddy
Kent & Kate
Stan
Buzz (@11:00)
Greg & Sharon?
ApacheBob (alone on Sunday :()

But she can't have our wonderful company! (or yours either, since you'll be with us!) :D

I'll be there. Probably bringing up a flying buddy as well.
