FAIRFAX, Vt. (AP) - A Stowe pilot is safe after making an emergency landing in a field with his experimental airplane.
The Vermont State Police says that 48-year-old Peter Hebert left the Allen Home Airstrip in South Hero at about 1 pm on his way to the Stowe-Morrisville airport when the engine on his Kitfox single engine airplane failed at about 3,000 feet.
It took Hebert four minutes to find a field where he could land his plane.
The only damage to the plane was to 1 of its landing gear.
Police say the Federal Aviation Administration has been notified.
