I'd like to start using my plane to visit my father who lives a few miles away from KHPN (Wetchester County, NY). VFR for now. There looks like there are three fbos on the field at five locations, and nased upon reviews I've found, Million Air seems to be the friendliest and most cost-effective towards small GA planes. Would be very grateful for any first hand advice or experiences at HPN. Budget is a factor, so cost details are especially appreciated. Thanks!

I flew out of Ross West, and have no experience with the others, so I can’t offer a meaningful comparison. Ross West was fine but pricey.

HPN is one of those Class D airports that thinks it is a Class C. Contact NY Approach before you call Tower and you will be fine.

Go to Millionaire. It’s a real nice FBO and it’s not too pricey - just buy fuel to mitigate the handling charge just like you should at any busy airport.

Have your A-game on flying in there. Everybody is ‘friendly’ but NY Approach doesn’t suffer fools gladly. None of us are fools but missing a radio call or not coming clean on any confusion will get you on the wrong side of things.

It’s a good time to fly in there because traffic is still somewhat depressed but late Sundays, Mondays and Fridays can get busy (that’s by best guess). Go in on a Saturday and it will be fast and easy in and out.

They could easily just slide your Cherokee under the wing of one of the Gulfstreams, wouldn't take up any more ramp space.
That way they don't charge you for overnight, right?
