Noticed the other day that the identifier for Meadow Lake airport had changed. They've been changing quite a few in Colorado the last few years. I think to get weather reporting in the system. Boulder, Longmont, Erie, Creede are few I recall. And now KFLY. My first thought was - How come that id was still available? No one thought of calling an airport FLY before!

"A change of FAA identifier from 00V to FLY (ICAO: KFLY) took effect on January 14, 2011"

Nice! Maybe for our nicer weather fly-in? Since we'll have to pack a picnic lunch... :)

Perfect timing as the newest Denver Sec. was valid January 13, 2011! I checked and it is still 00V on the sectional.

Samey, same on the TAC. Duats recognizes FLY but not 00V today.

I like Meadow Lake. A few Grummans based down there. There was a brief microburst/twister that came through when I was there once and a news crew was chasing it and interviewed me. I waited it out then took off. Colorado weather is like that.
