officials announced Monday that the aircraft manufacturer plans to make Superior the home of its manufacturing facility and headquarters —....Its headquarters and manufacturing operations are currently located in Brunswick, Maine. It also has engineering and design offices in Duluth, Minn.

Interesting. With the economy in the dumps, local and state governments are making huge concessions to lure new employment.

If I was to open a composite plant, I would go to Duluth or Grand Forks as well. Why spend money on training staff if you can just hire them away from Cirrus ?
Brunswick never made much sense.

I was kinda partial to Brunswick, but Wisconsin made the better deal. If this $100 user fee per flight ever happens though, the market for Kestrels will dry up before it ever really develops.

the founder of Kestrel is the former CEO of Cirrus.....sounds like you may be on to something.

With the Chinese buying Epic and Cirrus, why not just buy Kestrel as well? That gives you a nice line up to compete against the big guys...

I wouldn't be entirely shocked if a year from now there will be a 'suprise' announcement that the chinese have purchased Kestrel and that Klapmeier will be the new CEO of the combined Contiental/Cirrus/Epic/Kestrel aircraft corporation.

Wouldn't that be like someone buying Lancair and then buying Columbia? Epic and Kestrel are pretty similar.

Epic has this little 6-seater that is really a 4-seater. Kestrel is more of a PC-12 sized 8 seater.

With all the Cirrus addicts in the pipeline who are just itching to upgrade and wont fly in anything that is not made from chlorox bottles, having both products to offer may be a worthwhile strategy.:goofy:
