Hey Everyone,
I know this is really late, but I will be running the show at PAI at BTR tomorrow and would love to have some traffic in and out. It gets very boring just sitting and staring! You can even have a tour of the FW-190! If you plan to come I will most likely get there around 10 AM tomorrow, and anyone can call and reserve the crew car. Whoever calls first gets it. Would love to see some of you guys in tomorrow. Have a nice flight if you do come.

Blue skies,
Holton

Hey Holton,

Have you considered hosting an LA Fly-in event this year? If the weather is good there's usually a pretty good turnout of local pilots.

I try to make them (when the plane is flyable).

Yea I have been thinking about it. Just not sure what exactly to do. Would it be better just to host a fly in just to get together or an actual something to come fly to with food, programs ,etc in your opinion? We used to host a crawfish boil, but that has not occured in a while. If you guys can give me an idea of what everyone would like at a Fly-In to BTR; I can get it worked out. Anyone with ideas can post them here.

Well, pilots are always looking for food...heh.

You can make it as laid-back or as produced as you want. Lots of pilots out there. Some like a big event, others just a hangar talkfest.

I'd suggest looking at other events already scheduled and see if a similar event would work at your location. Why re-invent the wheel. Some online fly-in calendars can be found at:

or

or

If you want to do more than just a drop-in event I'd suggest getting a local EAA chapter or 99's group involved. That way you can be the host without having to do all the work. Sometimes a local charity makes a good focal point for a modest fly-in or FBO open house. Imho, the secret to a successful aviation event is to have one that is a positive experience for all involved, including the airport managment, so the bigger the event the more good coordination is required (and good weather).

Personally, I like the "smaller" events with a good diversity of fly-in participants.

BTW, I heard you had a P-51 stop by your place today.
