So for all the AOA jokes through the years, it was finally the AOA that delayed my delivery. I guess karma wanted to play a little joke on me. Oh well, she flew last Thursday so the delivery should be able to move forward and SOE flights can begin the first of next week.

    Damn those AOAs

Yup. Paint not done in this pic yet. Was supposed to get it after type rating last month but a few delays and will pick it up next week. Can’t wait!!

I read about the grounding a few days ago. Didn't read the AD, was it just a code revision to fix?

The current AOA needed to be reworked or replaced. They are getting them turned around. An inconvenience but they are getting through it. This is my old one below.

Assemblers left loctite off of two set screws. Thus, the torque setting drifted during use . . . . This would be a "hardware" fix.

@mulligan you need to update your avatar pic. :)

When I first got to see the SF50 in person the thing really impressed me. Fantastic cabin, and they really hit the nail on the head for overall execution of an aircraft that's a realistic and reasonable step up from an SR22 while offering some incredible performance.

I may be a twin guy who likes planes older than I am, but the SF50 I make an exception for in terms of getting my interest.

That’s exciting that you are getting the vision jet. I sat in one in Knoxville at a cirrus event and was impressed. Have fun in the sim!

Hey @mulligan , we were discussing in another thread how quickly a new SR22 “depreciates” when selling it not long after buying. I think you had yours 2 years?? Would you mind sharing what % of the original purchase price you got for yours as a data point?

Nobody would believe me if I were to tell you I sold my SR22 for more than I bought it for so I guess I will not tell you anything. What I can tell you is they are more expensive now then when I bought and the wait is a lot longer so a low time fully equipped bird is a good deal for both parties.

There is one based at our airport and it sounds good. It's really great to hear jet sounds at our little airport.

25 hours of SOE is required by FAA for new type so yes, I will have a mentor pilot. Will knock it out in 5 back to back days.

It happens more often than one might think, but the circumstances have to be right. A friend of mine recently sold two late model airplanes and profited on both. He made over $100k on one airplane and $70k on the other.

I had the privilege to complete my SOE training this week. The experience was amazing. We had every weather condition imaginable. Who would have thought ice was easy to find in Texas in May? I learned something new each flight and this experience was a huge confidence builder. A few observations below.

    # 1 - The first day was the longest in hours. We flew from KTYS to KLAS with a few stops along the way for fuel and to accomplish some SOE tasks. When we got to KLAS, I did not feel nearly as tired as I thought I would. The size and comfort of the cockpit allow for longer days while remaining absolutely comfortable.

    # 2 - The 2nd day was most challenging. The weather was not ideal for the trip back to the east coast. We spent a significant amount of time getting intimate with the on board weather systems and radar. It appears to be more of an art then a science but I'm starting to get the hang of it. These systems allowed us to navigate through weather I never would have tried before.

    # 3 - To me, the Vision is easier to fly then my SR22. I found that it handled like a dream, the systems are all laid out in an easy to use fashion, and I absolutely land this thing 10 times better then my SR22.

    # 4 - I have a new found respect for ATC. They were over loaded with all of the weather and diversions but they were on top of it and very accommodating.

I don’t imagine I’ll ever get into a turbine like this, but I do love to hear about it second hand, so keep it coming.

    Looks like a great ride!

My comment was made because the thread wasn't "I got a jet check it out" it was the "Oh something broke, my life is so horrible....did I mention it was on my new jet."

"I shot a double bogey on 18 today and missed shooting my best round of golf, ever. Did I mention it was on my private $70MM island while playing with Tiger and Phil?"

I’ve seen cirrus clouds with jets flying through them whilst piloting my 150 (at a much, much lower altitude.) Beat that!

@mulligan -cool thread! Congrats on getting the SOE stuff out of the way. Hope you have more and more fun with each successive flight!
