In a prior post, someone had asked what is good to eat in Abilene...so I thought I'd create a separate post for it.
If you are looking for a really good steak, and a great experience...fly in to Abilene Regional (KABI). The FBO is Abilene Aero...I may be biased because it is my home base, but it is a good FBO. They have 3 courtesy cars. Get one and drive the 18 miles south to the town of Buffalo Gap, and visit Perini Ranch Steakhouse (www.periniranch.com). It is well worth the trip. You should probably get a reservation (especially for nights on the weekend). Order some Jalapeño poppers or quail legs for an appetizer, and save room for desert (it's all amazing, but my favorite is the bread pudding).
And no, I don't work for the FBO, or Perini Ranch, or the Convention/Visitors Bureau. It's just good stuff.
