Gotta letter in the mail today. WE WON!!!! My cut of the $26.5 million award from Facebook is $0.155 ( let's just call it 16 cents ). Thinking about using it as a down payment on a citation.

No, but the lawyers in the case bought a couple.

Combine that for the settlement from the phone company for 'not having the bestest network' and you can buy a Gulfstream.

Or a cup of gas-station coffee (if you also fill up to get the discount).

Oh, I won a lawsuit too. Got me a coupon for a free pickle.

Actually, I just got a check for a class action that was close to $200 for some ATT thing.

I got one for about $500 a few years back on an Amerprise investment thing.

Still no Citation.

Class actions are the biggest scam in the legal system. It's basically just lawyers extorting money from companies, for essentially zero client benefit.

You can buy a couple Citations for 30 or 40% of $26.5 million? Didn't know that.

There are some very nice USED Citations that settlement fee would certainly purchase. But we thank the mighty warriors for fearlessly battling the injustice just the same ! Oh the humanity !

A cynic might point out that they also give companies (some of whom have done actual wrong) the opportunity to settle hundreds of thousands of lawsuits all at once for little more than the cost of attorney's fees.

Every few months I'll visit a couple of websites that collect info on class actions and have links to sign up. Over the years I've collected $4K for masonite siding, a few hundred for the LCD tvs and computers, a few hundred for briggs and stratton engines, a dozens of checks for less than $100 for odds and ends. The $8 Nutella check was the funny one since I didn't even claim that one - someone told me once that they tracked my purchases via my debit card.

Just this last Saturday I got a $40 settlement check from a credit card company I haven't had in almost 10 years.

No, just live in an old movie theater watching old movies, grow your beard, hair, finger and toe nails really long, collect your urine in jars and go naked all day...:lol::lol:

Yep, never sign onto a class action, let them set the precedent then sue as an individual.

First of all his statement is just silly; secondly, if you do what you suggest you run the risk of running up your own costs dramatically with no guarantee of any positive outcome. I mean go ahead I guess if you want to, but one might counsel against it as well..

So in your mind if a company happens to be able to steal or defraud $5 from a million people, they should get to keep the $5 million? They should get away with it with no repercussions? If not, are you saying that it's reasonable to expect people to sue a company for $5? And which do you suppose is better for the legal system and society as a whole, 1 lawsuit representing 1,000,000 people, or 1,000,000 lawsuits for the same thing (even more so if it's for a smaller amount of damages)? And do you think corporations would operate more honestly without the threat of class actions? Would they be more or less inclined to engage in questionable behavior?

I mean come on, dude. Seriously.

Now, if we could just file a class action suit against the government for all the money they've stolen from the taxpayers.

Speaking of stealing from the taxpayers, don't forget the billions corporations have stolen from the taxpayers thru phoney deductions, absurd subsidies, etc. Billions upon billions, etc. Don't forget how it works...privatize profit , socialize loss. The 2007 debacle is a perfect example.

$30 isn't even worth signing onto a lawsuit, much less 30¢. There is no risk because these things are always on contingency, no cure no pay. If a lawyer won't take the t on contingency, don't bother, you have a loser.

On contingency for whom? There is certainly risk for the attorneys.

And if anyone wants to give me $30, I'm game.

Go back to bed Jimmy.

Typical ad hominem response to a perfectly valid point.
Hangar talk isn't the place for Jimmys bouts of keyboard Tourettes whenever something vaguely political pops up.

Jimmy is known for talking out of the wrong end of his digestive system. Feel free to Join the spin zone and we can hash out who's getting what from whom. Jimmy needs a cheerleader. Be sure to mention Bush, Cheney, Halliburton and Reagan in your first post. Bonus points if you can work in a Condie Rice dig. Jimmy still thinks its 2007 at the latest.
