This afternoon in North Texas the weather cleared up. I had planned to fly but all my usual flying partners were out of pocket so I went alone. I'm about 18 hours into instrument training, but haven't done any simulatated instrument time in a couple of months. So, I got on Center's frequency for traffic awareness and flew over to MWL under the Foggles for some approaches....KIDDING!!!

I did fly over to MWL and shot the GPS RWY 31 and the ILS RWY 31 and some touch and go's just to practice the procedures again (all heads up of course). It was fun and relaxing.

I was feeling good, so on my way back to Hicks I thought I'd do some 60 degree steep turns, which I used to do all the time. Wow! Did those feel steep! I did a couple of double-takes on the AI to make sure it was really 60, 'cuz it felt like 90.

Seems like when I'm working on polishing one area, another is going to pot. I haven't flown tailwheel in a year. I can't wait to see what that's like!

Bottom line: I need to retire so I can fly ALL the time! I wish I could.

No interesting question here, just some yearning for more time in the air.
