I get this in my email....

"Dear David,

Thank you for applying for the Associate, Warehouse position (1217816) at ****** *****.
We appreciate your interest in employment opportunities with our Company.

We regret to inform you that prior to reviewing your resume the candidate list was closed for this position. If you have applied for additional opportunities with us, you may still be under consideration for those positions."

Why was the job still open for applications you stupid dumbarses????????

They need to keep the job officially open for few days per labor law, but internally they already know whom to hire. It's a facade , I see it all the time.... the person who will be hired is already decided before the job is posted

I have heard of that but I applied for this the last week of January plus it is a no-skill required labor job. So I can't see it being an internal posting.

The word is out on you. They read POA too you know. :D

Sorry man, that sucks and yeah, frustrating.

Doesn't matter whether it requires skill or not, based on what u wrote it definitely looks like they already had a person in mind and the job is just open for 6 weeks or 8weeks labor department requirement. But again without being the hiring manager, this is all a high guess

Or the HR person is internet incompetent and forgot/didn't bother/doesn't know how to close the ad online.

and thats why we call them HR = Hardly Required :d

I got a letter telling me that I had not been selected for an attorney job (federal agency) for which I had never applied.

Obviously, they just filled in some random people for the mandatory number of applicants before they gave the job to the chosen one.

I could not help but feel pretty puny - I got fired from a job I never even got hired for!

What you need to do, is be the one that the position is advertised for....

Oh man the hiring process is a pain in the ass. After I elected to try to finish up my CFI and try to pursue flying as a career I looked for a job to replace my old one for a better schedule (non 55 hr workweeks)and the amount of instant decline or never hear back from is ridiculous. Warehouse, car cleaning, retail, lawn mowing, movers, applied to ATandT got an email that said congrats now we just need to schedule a time to take a test, and 5 min later got a sorry your not qualified for this job email(qualifications being a HS diploma and willingness to work outside). Took 2 months and a ton of applications to land a job working at 4am at a retail store. Double major BA in in economics and political science, AA in business admin, stable work history and I couldnt even get an callback for mowing lawns (something I did for 2 years when dad was laid off the airlines after 9/11). Keep plugging away I know its annoying.

If your looking for warehouse type work give a look at coca cola/pepsi/fritolay/RC snapple group (or local bottler) They are usually hiring especially as spring roles around, also driver/merchandiser/routesales for those companies. Fair enough pay and good benefits for what it is.

It said "prior to reviewing your resume," not "prior to the time that you applied." You got your app in at the tail end of the window, and someone else got the job. Early bird, worms, and all that.

At least you got a letter. It's far too common to just circular-file everything after the position is hired.

I'd just be happy if when the feds list job it would indicate "This is an actual opening" versus "This is a post we're filling from the inside but we're pretending it's an open process."

Most of the letters I used to see were, "Your qualifications are admirable, but unfortunately we cannot offer you employment at this time." Or something along those lines.

On a more humorous note, I got not once, but twice, letters similar to what I wrote above AFTER I was already working the job they were turning me down for. I pinned the first one up for a couple months.

In 1993, my little division of our company got spun out of a larger company. Nobody lost their jobs or anything, we just were now working for "Sensor Systems" rather than "BTG." Of course, HR at BTG sent us all termination letters as we wouldn't be working for THEM anymore.. It is only one of two times I've ever been fired. I framed it and had it hanging on my wall for a long time. Of course, I didn't frame the letter from Textron when they called me up and fired me over the phone after 23 years of devoted service.

You must have bad luck. I've been Hired once by a company that I never applied for with a resume that was 4 years out of date. And had my resume handed to the area supervisor of the company I was currently working for. I guess an agency got ahold of my resume and set it out to everyone.
