Just a couple tin cans, don’t click

Old typewriters are the best! Here's my 1936 Remington No. 5 Streamline...still works quite well. Love the clackety-clack that brings back vibes of old newsroom, and memories of learning how to type on my dad's Royal model. So many have been butchered for their keys, used to make bracelets, etc.

Specialty shops still have ribbons.

I had a garage sale treasure one as a kid and typed the hell out of stuff... :)

Can one still get typewriter ribbon?

I imagine that would be hard to source these days.

Not that hard. Like the stereo turntable thread, they’re becoming popular and “vintage” and ribbons for most are around again. Like styluses (styli?) for turntables.

Dot matrix printers never fully died either due to multiple layer impact printing of receipts and such, but they’re also becoming “somewhat collectible” and ribbons for some models are again available.

It’s...interesting and odd.
