JMB VL3

I'm a very happy owner of a Mooney Ovation 3 based in las Vegas (KHND). My mission has been primarily flying back and forth between Las vegas and Houston, Las vegas and Oregon and las vegas and various locations in California. I fly a fair amount of IFR. I am relocating to Houston over the Summer and will will will no longer need a 4 place quite as much, so my eye has been wandering over to 2 place aircraft. I've been intrigued with the JMB VL3 - modern, fast (as fast as my Ovation) and wildly more fuel efficient with a Rotax 916is vs an IO-550. Does anyone have any experience with these aircraft? Pitfalls? Or is too good to be true, actually too good to be true??? Would it make a good X-C bird for my mission (lack of TKS is a definite negative)?..... Thanks!!!

My pal sold his Gamebird 1 and bought a jmb vl3 with the 916. he LOVES it. and thinks the rotax is a great engine. Lukas at jmb may still have a march slot open if someone hasnt grabbed it. flew one and loved it. only think that gave me pause was spending 450-475 for plane. big bite for me. also now u can get garmin axis

Yes, 475k is a lot, albeit it’s buys a brand new state of the art aircraft. My biggest concern is how stable it is in turbulence. My Ovation 3 is heavy and very stable..I’m going to be in Houston next week may try to go and see one…

The turbine VL3 looks sweet. New engine though, so that gives me pause.
