Using Dell Support Assist to update drivers on my newer laptop (about 20 months old) this morning.

This was one of the "critical updates" listed as being needed. WTF am I missing???

BIOS updates count down. When it reaches zero you have to get a new PC.

I recall reading something about that 1.4.1 BIOS update earlier this year. Apparently it bricked a lot of laptops and was eventually withdrawn. The current version has the same release number, but a May 2018 release date and is rated "urgent." Something is definitely strange.

Maybe the "new" 1.4.1 needs to be installed over the 1.3.1, making a downgrade necessary before doing the upgrade?

That's just a shot in the dark. I really don't know. One would think if the "old" 1.4.1 were problematic, the fix would have a new release number. More research is needed.
