I'm in Montreal with Collin Aucker (Arbiter419) and while getting dinner at a pub I started talking to the guy next to me at the bar. He was speaking English and wearing a big leather jacket (he did look very pilotey). He mentioned he was from Ft Lauderdale, so I asked him if he knew Henning (he didn't) then I asked him if he knew Captain, and if he had been the topic of one of his jerk threads. (Ok I really didn't ask the second part) but as it turns out he is friends with the people who own the airport I learned to fly at - it's a small world!

So did you fly a customer to Montreal?

I couple of years ago I was on vacation in Montreal, then Quebec City, then whale-watching further downstream on the St. Lawrence. I drove out to a little airport that is in the middle of nowhere, but in a pretty landscape and close to the whale watching. It's called Charlevoix, CYML. It had recently been updated, and it looked very nice. I would really like to fly there someday.

That's what I do. Anytime I meet someone from Florida I always ask them if they know Henning or Captain.

Mostly I get blank stares.

You never know where you will meet people from home.

I walked into the airport diner in Homer AK and found 8 people from my home in southern NV. No, it was not a planned meeting.

I went to this small town in Alaska 6 years ago in which only 80 some people reside. Out of the 80 some residents, I met only 1. That one guy grew up not far down the road from me in PA. Best part was when the old guy asked where I was from, he made me spell it out and explain where it was on a map. He then laughed and began telling me about his childhood here. It really is a small world. :)
