...that Timmy threw his smokes away.

That was also the day I wrote the check for my first (okay, second) love:

And I made myself a no B.S. promise that if I smoked even ONE more grit, then I'd sell my new toy. I destroyed numerous cases of toothpicks in the subsequent five years and now I'm hooked on sugar free cough drops, but...

...I haven't had even one smoke. ;)

congratulations on both the fine bird and the new lease on life!

Thanks!

but just to be clear, that's not my current bird. That's a '57 172 that I bought in '02 and learned how to fly in. Put over 300 hours on it before buying the 182 in early '04. Sold the 172 in '05 to a guy in GA who totaled it in '09 or '10. It was bought by an A&P though and is probably flying again. I think it's in MS now.

Should've never sold it, it was a nice bird.

I mean, everyone needs an airplane collection, don't they?

Way to go.

It's been a long time for me too. 17/18 years, but it's still one day at a time today being my personal best at no smoking.

Awesome! I would imagine flying your own plane feels a LOT better than lung replacement or chemo. :yesnod:

Yes! But in this case I can't really use my "It's cheaper than golf!" rationalization that I use for guitars. :-)

Considering that last year I watched my dad die of lung cancer (47 year smoker), I can confidently say that you've made a good decision.

Also, that's a purdy airplane...

Awesome news Tim! Here's to the next ten, and the next, etc....
