My dad texted saying he cannot deplane because in his words "my gate is blocked by a plane on the ramp in front of the gates surrounded by 11 fire trucks and there are also police cars."

I 'm not seeing any news.

Sorry I mixed up with an issue in PHX, no idea about DFW.

Where?

DFW
He just said they are not telling anyone anything but have relocated the plane to a different location and are letting them off the plane (his plane not the surrounded one)

Hopefully it is something like a medical emergency and not some crazy with a gun. Glad to know your dad is Ok.

There is so much funny business that never makes the news, it ain't funny. Not saying it isn't a security theatre overreaction, but it is a fallacy to expect all the important/big stuff to be on the news.

Could be anything from a hot APU to some onboard emergency.

They send the fire trucks in case of a fire.
The police show up because cops want to be firemen.
