They need to go in and shoot down the helicopters, that can't be allowed even from your enemy.

The worst thing the Israelis could do is anything in Syria, just fuels the government. They need to keep well, well clear.

The ghosts of Damascus will mingle with the ghosts of Trebinka, they were all dispatched while men stood by and let evil reign. If they do nothing, they do not deserve to have Israel. Troops and tanks are one thing, they can be dealt with. Helicopters create wholesale slaughter.

Sure, but what if the "rebels" are even more bad medicine for Israel than the current government? I suspect that to be the case.

We could easily provide air cover, but won't due to political considerations which we unfortunately earned in Libya. But the hatred for the Israelis runs pretty deep, a lot deeper than their hatred for us.

Whatever winds up being in place could be better or worse. Smart people can see what side of the bread is buttered, and can quickly figure out there is more to gain by good relations with their neighbors than to loose. Smart people don't always wind up onto though.

At this point I don't think we have any choice but to wait for the Syrians to resolve things themselves. They bumped off Assad's brother-in-law yesterday, so maybe things will soon draw to a close. I hope so, for the sake of the Syrian people.
