is this a good deal?

can't offer any educated comments but i'm wondering how a partnership like this works.

- how many partners are there?
- would your hours be limited to 10% of the total avail time?
- a 10% buy-in of $6500 imputes a total value of $65,000. is the plane worth that much?
- $1500 +\- per yr for routine maintenance. does that represent 10% of the budgeted tital for PM?
- will unscheduled repairs be pro-rated by shares, by hours flown or some other formula? what if you're the cause of the problem?

just curious if i ever decide to go this route.

Thise are good questions.

I'm not sure of the particulars. I'm going to go check it out this weekend amd I'll be sure to ask.

That could be a good deal. Go to a meeting, review minutes of prior meetings, get a look at the financials, and ask LOTS of questions.

Yes, it's a good deal on the surface.

Once you buy in (tied up money, but you shouldn't lose any of it assuming maintenance and engine funds are kept up and that the partnership isn't going to skimp on things that hurt the value), you can fly it for around $60 an hour wet. Assume 5 hours a month at the $115 monthly dues and that's still only $83 an hour. That's really good for an IFR bird.

The one thing to watch out for in a 10 person partnership with one airplane is how active everyone is. Make them show you the schedules. Is the plane reasonably available or are there a few guys constantly blocking off entire days or hogging the weekends? What are the rules on longer trips? It would suck to own a capable airplane like that but be limited to one 3-day trip a year or something stupid (I've seen that happen with clubs before).

100% worth looking into.
