****Update***** This is now resolved, it's PA-16.

Thanks to a Mr. d.grimm

I was thinking C120 or 140 off the bat. Then I thought about most of the 120/140's that I've seen being fast backs without windows aft of the doors or if they do have em, they are shorter.

I then was thinking about the Aeronca 11 Chief. It makes more sense. The fuselage and tail match up. only thing puzzling me is the nose (its too fat) and the tiny Cessna like decal on the tail. I am picturing a 1950's type of decal.

It sounds to me like a 172 taking off but I have an untrained ear. It in no way is the original 65hp A65 or Cont. O-190. I strongly believe that it's a Chief. The struts are different though, Cessna like, but I don't see the horizontal braces so no clue.

I think it's just a re-powered Aeronca but I am not sure so I called in the experts.

Let the fun begin:popcorn:

Looks like a Piper PA 20 Pacer.

That was my third guess but I was told that there aren't any Pacer's based at the field! Thanks for the help! I missed the N-number.

Actually it's a PA16, Clipper. Only made in 1949 and then the Pacer.
Dual sticks in front, 108 HP ( originally) weighs 850 empty and will
carry 800 lbs. My 1948 Vagabond is the forerunner to the Clipper.
The big ailerons and no flaps give it away.

A Clipper with Pacer horse power...now you're talking. I like sticks better than steering wheels, and who needs flaps, anyway? Fits my definition of a very inexpensive airplane.
