Is it possible to replace a Garmin Nuvi GPA's battery?

Unfortunately, I went too long without using my late wife's GPS and the battery went completely flat. As most people know, once a lithium battery is completely discharged, it can no longer be recharqed.
There are 4 tiny screws on the back, so it looks like it might be able to open it up.

Has anyone ever successfully attempted to replace a Garmin Nuvi GPS's battery?

We had a Nuvi when we went to Europe almost 15 years ago. Never tried to replace the battery, but when it finally died, we just powered it from the supplied USN cable.

My Nuvi battery barely holds a charge anymore either. I don’t remember how old it is.

I really should figure out how to replace the battery, too.

There's an outfit in Longmont, and other places, too, ubreakitIFixit, or similar. I'm going there today to see if they can help with it, as well as a Sleep Number bed remote.

Update:

No joy on either one. They can't source parts for the GPS, and he didn't recognize the remote. I was in the area anyway, so I didn't waste a trip.

Will wonders never cease. I thought for sure Tammy's GPS was dead, as it didn't turn on when I pressed the power button. After doing due diligence, I was ready to send it in to have the battery replaced. I have a hall table near the front door and had another GPS on a charger. I decided to do due diligence and set up another charger for it. Surprisingly, and happily, the GPS powered up. I have a four-port charging hub plugged into the socket, so I have capability for another two devices.

Still, the guy at uBreakitIFixIt said he couldn't source the battery. He's got to have better resources than I do. But I'm giving it a shot.

Thank you for the link. They have batteries for select Nuvi GPS's. Surprisingly, they are in Lafayette, which is very close to where I live. I should pay them a visit.

Edit. I just called. They don't work on those GPS's as they can't get the batteries. Guess I need to treat this one with a lot of TLC.

Will wonders never cease. Just for grins I did a web search for my GPS's battery, and came up with a kit with tools, instructions, and a long-life battery for my Nuvi on Amazon. All for less than $38, including tax. I just ordered it.

I already put a micro SDHC card in it so I could upgrade the maps. They said between 2 and 32 GB capacity, so I went with 32 GBs, so I won't have to replace it as the maps grow.
