Is it my imagination, or are half the planes that I have looked at shopping have a red interior? What is going through these people's mind? The paint is fine but the interior invariably is some form ghastly red velour/Naugahyde.

Colours and paint schemes tend to be representative of the era in which they were created. Are you looking at planes of a similar vintage, and are most still sporting their original interior livery?

My first plane had been repainted and had the interior re-done in the 1970s. And it showed. Chocolate brown and yellow. About the only thing from the era that was missing was orange shag carpet.

How about that blue pleather too with blue carpet! WTF are people thinking. Better yet, were manufactures dropping acid when the interior guy showed up?
 
The older the plane the uglier the interior.
