Would anyone like to comment on the best iPad app for pilots and which features are most useful? I am looking at Foreflight and WingXPro which seem to be very similar. WingXPro has this interesting synthetic vision terrain capability but I'm not sure how useful that is. They Both seem to have GPS interface, flight planning, maps, weather, etc..

They're both good for different reasons. All depends on personal tastes/preference.

Simply from volume of traffic on forums I am going out on a limb and guessing FF has the larger market share...and more users available to talk you through the learning process.
Search POA: Foreflight=6pages, WingX=2pages.
FF is a terrific program; I love it (despite my threads on FF wishlists etc). WingX might be equally wonderful or better, never tried it.

Try them both and decide what works better for you. WingX is $0.99 download with free one month fully functional subscription. ForeFlight is free download but limited functionality - it does not allow you to download maps for offline browsing, you have to be on WiFi to use it. You cannot really try it in flight. At least that was the case couple month ago when I tried it.
I ended up with WingX for the following reasons (in no particular order):
1. Dual panel view - very convinient.
2. Georeferenced airport taxi diagrams included in base subscription - helps a lot at unfamiliar airports.
3. Extended runway centerline - prevents you from landing on wrong runway.
4. 3, 5 and 15 minutes markers - very handy.
5. Altitude selection help on Route Planning page - press little "i" to see speed on different altitudes based on winds aloft.

Does 6 pages vs 2 pages mean people have more problems with ForeFlight:wink2:?
Or does it mean ForeFlight users don't know how to use "Search" function on the board:D.

It means we're much more excited about that product than the other one ;)
