I’m doing a full renovation of my 182, panel paint interior. I have a pant job scheduled for this fall and am considering doing the interior work before hand.

Does anyone have an interior shop they would recommend any where in the eastern time zone ? I’m based on NJ but willing to fly to any good shop

I recommend Roberto at New Garden N57. Does great work. (717) 823-7135
Yes I also had a good experience with Roberto, although his accounting/invoicing system was a bit ad hoc. But no complaints about the workmanship. Plus he kept to his schedule which seems a rarity these days.

My interior was done by Hartzell (no relation to the fan people) Auto Interiors in Aurora, NE. Mine was the first airplane they had ever done. They did such a good job that the restoration shop there started sending other Navions in for work. I've seen some of the other work that was even fancier than mine come out well. There's really not a whole lot of difference between auto upholstery and airplane work. They sent me a whole box of fabric swatches that had the FAA fire certification(though if you have a CAR 3 plane, you don't need that approval, just that it is "fire resistant"). I'd be inclined to talk to a local auto shop with a good reputation for custom work.

I was pleased with both the quality and speed of the work done by Elegance Aircraft Interiors which operated out of the Smoketown Airport (S37) at 311 Airport Dr, Suite 7, in Smoketown, PA. Roberto Abarco is the name of the owner/operator. The phone number I have for them is: 717-823-7135. It looks like this is the same Roberto who is now located at N57 (based on the phone number).

I would probably suggest doing the interior and windows after it's been painted. Just in case they find something that's gonna cost more to fix.

He did great work on my Mooney, but missed every deadline. I think he is better if your plane is in his shop. Mine was at N71 for panel upgrade, figured have the interior removed, work done, reinstall at end of avionics work. Luckily, the avionics work ran long or the plane would have sat waiting on him.

He moved.
