I don't know anything about ocean currents but this looks interesting to me. The only reason we could see it was because of the sun reflecting off the water at a particular angle.

It's obviously not bothering the wake of the boats which cut through it. Good thing. This was taken yesterday off the coast of California. Catalina Island is the dark blob at the very upper right of the picture.

It's obvious what the second picture is but I've never bothered to have a camera out when I've seen the snow blowing off the mountains like this. This was also taken yesterday and is Long's Peak on the Colorado Front Range.

You were in California again and I didn't get a call?

Just kidding. Beautiful pictures.

Hehe, we were at KSFO for about... 45 minutes. :)

I saw in another thread that you canceled your flight. There would have been nothing to see anyway except the tops of the mountains on the peninsula. The marine layer was around big time.

Hi Mari! Very interesting shots!

I don't know how the currents go- could be an eddy off the island.

Thanks for sharing these shots!

Wait you mean yesterday? Funny thing is, that is when Amelia flew over the Bay Bridge. I drove to / from SF and it was off and on, but clouds below TPA (ceilings) at my little untowered airport and me a low time pilot? No thanks. I know we did the right thing.

I think that was yesterday... looking at the flight log... 12/26/2011. We were there about 10 am and I think they were reporting 800 overcast. Maybe she did the photo shoot later in the day.

I'm no expert but I'm guessing that the water thing could be caused by converging currents or a current flowing over or around something in the water like rocks or something. I don't know. I'd imagine that either one could make water swirl like slow mountain wave turbulence.

Mari someone just probably pulled the stopper on the big tub

Seriously what I'm fixated on is a beautiful ocean shot and great mountain shot in the same day. Ain't flying great?

Yeah I think she said it was after lunch. It would have been cool if I heard her on Nor Cal Approach in the Cirrus. Oh well.
