I saw these contrails on Sunday evening. From where I live, it looks like they cross over the Peotone VOR, which is located just south of Chicago. I thought you might find them interesting.

Cool pic. But why when the airlines can fly GPS or INS or whatever direct do they continue to use VORs while en route? I see the carriers crossing the VORs all the time, just have never figured this out.

They look more like Chemtrails to me. I would buy lots of plastic & cover yourself & you loved ones.

It seem that some of the static wicks on large aircracft are actually spray nossels in disquise. When a 737 in on the ramp seeming to be getting the lav serviced, What is actually happining is chemicals are being pump in to be later sprayed down on us.

Oh wow!! I'm going to run home and cover my house in sheet metal right away!!

Very nice picture... pretty colors.
One thing I had never seen til last year was contrail shadows.... On top, at 30000' there were contrails criss crossing above us, and they left grey shadows on the deck below, it was kinda neat.

PS I think you need to line your cap with tin-foil to protect yourself from chemtrail irradiation.

Because ATC isn't equipped yet with the hardware or programming to handle a whole bunch of big jets flying around on direct courses.

By flying established routes at established altitudes, you create traffic highways that avoid conflicts.

If everyone flew IFR direct, you'ld have a lot harder job making sure people avoided each other.

I think the system is still set up that way. Even though the aircraft can fly direct to the destination, the clearances are still VOR to VOR along airways. Freeflight is supposed to change all that though.

Nope, not sure. They should rent my plane (for less than $22K per hour they've quoted) and we'll go analyse the stuff. 2 hour minimum.

Sure, they look lovely and harmless. But are you sure they aren't Chemtrails?

Don't forget your HAT!

Pretty. I like.

I haven't had the chance since getting my digital camera however with the right humidity levels around here at the right time and right day the COS area is crisscrossed by 20 maybe 25 contrails going all directions. Sometimes you get shadows of one on another or on a very thin overcast.

Joe, I think you should go into business selling and installing that sheet metal and aluminum foil. With all these interesting people about worrying about death rays, you should be able to make a killing. Literally. :D
