The installation calls for a magnetic interference test either in the wing or the fuselage, per Garmin.
As preparation of the area, my AP and I looked at the preferred area in the left wing with a borescope thru an existing hole by the flaps actuator arm next to the airframe - and found multiple metal 90 degree walls or ribs from the wing root inwards for about 4 feet that will have to be drilled to thread the GMU 11 magnetometer all the way to the wing tip. Beyond this 4 feet distance of wing, we could cross the wires thru an already-made-hole from the factory over to the next wing compartment where there are no more 90 degree ribs - beyond the aileron control cable horn -all the way to the wing tip. As you can see this task is vey difficult to accomplish , (perhaps will have to remove a piece of the top of the wing if need be) for the first 4 feet by drilling thru 3-4 ribs to get the wires thru.

Has anyone in the audience done it successfully ( minimum interference) by installing the GMU 11 beyond the bulkhead in a Beechcraft sundowner model C23?
Thanks

The GMU-11 doesn't have to be installed in a wing-tip. If your installer hasn't done one before (with the EMI map), find a different installer.

Thanks all for the info, I appreciate it!
Can you send me pics of the installed GMU 11 so I can show it to my installer please ?

my gmu11 is installed in the tail of my mooney, kinda high up on a rib away from anything electrical.1791255148477.jpeg

Run new wire (shielded) for the tip lights with the GMU wiring and use the existing wiring as a pull wire. Pull an extra wire for the light ground so you can ground it away from the GMU. We usually install them on the side opposite of the heated pitot tube.

You can point it either way. There is a config setting where you tell the G5 which way the GMU11 is pointed. Do the interference test first though to make sure it passes with the GMU11 pointed in the diretion you want. If it doesn't you can point it the other way and it might pass.
