I have located an ad for a Mooney M20J that I would like to receive some impartial comments on. Would that violate any POA terms? If I can do that, which board would be most appropriate.

Ok, based on Geico's permission, here is the link:

Thanks

Are you thinking of purchasing the aircraft? If so do some comps on that model, then give some specific questions ,for a fair evaluation, from the crowd.

Nice looking plane.

I'd like the engine to have 800 less hrs on it, and a stec or similar AP. I'd say if you could get her for 60-65k that'd be a sweet ride.

I agree. With those hours on it, I'd be selling it too. Owner hears hoofbeats. Check the price to do a first class overhaul. Big money plus reinstallaction.

That's kind of what I was thinking too. Plus, I'd want to upgrade the panel some (ADSB-out).

And I'm not familiar with the AP (CENTURY IV W/NSD 360 HSI). Does that present any special issues?

The auto pilot,Nsd 360 hsi was a nice combo in its day. It's kind of dated now.

Way over priced, last year I bought a 78 M20J with 2800 tt 1200smoh with a KFC200 which is an awesome autopilot/slaved HSI/flight director, 430w,mx20 mdf, wx1000 storm scope, and a few other goodies for 82k. That is a 60k plane at best.

FWIW, the 60K planes wouldn't have a 530W in it. The wing reseal is a $7-8K job and shows that owner cared enough to have it done instead of a patch job. Engine is high time. Why did the owner do a top 10 hours ago?
