The wind in Kansas has been driving us crazy this year. I had a Mirage land about 2 hours ago, there was a gust to 65 Kts on his roll out. Rocks or junk hit the pilot's windshield and shattered the outer glass layer.

I don't need extra work right now and I'm sure AIG doesn't need a $25,000 hit.

My wife and I might just move that retirement up a bit. Medford OR and Bristol TN seem to be the least windy cities around the US. Any suggestions?

Medford = too much winter

come on up to the San Jauns Islands, Sequim, or Oak Harbor, 70 degrees and very blue today with wind 270@4

And the Skaget Valley is in bloom. tulips are a little later.

Aren't you just LOVING Wichita? Imagine being a student, just wanting some mild weather for a change!

Ha not hardly! It was gusting in the 30s here in OK too.

Medford looks nice when green, but there is NOTHING going on there. Nothing. I thought about it, but no way, baby. There's nothing going on there. And don't ask me about the night life....:wink2:

Friday Harbor on San Juan Island is my idea of heaven on Earth, but your business might suffer a bit being so far off the beaten track. Decent runway there though, IIRC.

Bristol TN? You must be a NASCAR fan?

We're sending the wind to you from colorado after we act as the initial wind breaker. This year has been breezy.

I believe you just typed that we in Colorado break wind in the general direction of Kansas. While it may or may not be true I'm not sure it should be typed quite like that...

Kinda like Monty Python
"I fart in your general direction..."

The last two mornings, TAFs said winds were to be less than ten knots during the day. They lied. It only stands to reason there have been former weather forecasters in Congress.

The reason the wind in blowing so hard in KS is that NE or OK sucks.

It's because OK sucks and NE blows.

It was gusting in the 40s in Newark when we launched last night. When the tower read the wind and cleared a COA plane to land, his read back said it best: "Wow, sporting; 22L, cleared to land!" It was only high 20s gust 30s when we got to ORF. Today is day three (I think) of non-stop wind. It's just like being back in Wichita!

That wind blew through here on Friday.. gusts to 65knts.
Snow above 5500MSL.
North light breeze today.. 5-10knts.. spring thermals to 11,000MSL.
Nicer tomorrow and another front due through Tues/Weds with high winds again.
It's that spring cycle.

RE: Medford is a nice place, especially in the "suburbs" of Jacksonville and Ashland. As far as having nothing to do; that is probably true if you don't like world class fishing, good golf, decent (not great) vineyards, hiking, skiing, biking, and things like that. It is a five hour drive to get to more big city things, but I am assuming you could probably round up a plane that will get you to Portland in a little over an hour.:wink2:

I have spent the last couple of decades in Seattle and, currently, Portland. The weather in Southern Oregon is MUCH better except for some winter fog issues. It has a big retirement community (mostly Californians) for a reason. It does get hot in the summer, but not humid.

Housing in Jacksonville and Ashland is expensive, but they are very nice in my opinion. Medford proper has everything from trailers to hilltop mansions to choose from.

Yea, whatever. I've been doing creative writing all day.

We reduce the windspeed for you from 100kts to 40kts by taking the hits ourselves and you complain. Sheesh.

Geez.. It passes through Wyoming blowin 120 kts, we harness 20 of it to spin all of our wind turbines, make some serious electric juice, send that down the highlines to alot of you guys and Colorado gets 100 kts, from there it is just a "light breeze". Oh yeah, those pesky little electrons created by the wind enabled me to send these pearls of wisdom..:fcross:

Today it's clear and calm at my house in CO so maybe that is headed your way too.
