Coming from a couple crop duster friends, sometimes it is just unavoidable and you have to go under.

I think so. I flew with a guy who was transitioning to fixed wing and he got hired to fly an R22 in a lot of tight spaces.

As a kid I remember watching the old bi-wing crop dusters go under the wires. Unless there was a pole in the way, then they would go over.
