He wasn't getting even. He duped more people to send more money to the same guy.
That has happened many times. People have embezzled from their employers and from the government to send more to Mr. Mike Mugotu.
The New York Times tech columnist David Poque had a woman who bought his house, way too easily he thought - without looking - then she said she would have this big windfall coming from overseas on Thursday.
These guys must be GOOD at the spiel.

What really boggles my mind is that there are people that actually believe this stuff, AND they are allowed to drive cars.
