And then there's the family in South Florida who left Marathon Key at 7 am THURSDAY to SAIL around the tip of Florida in their 24-foot boat to their home on the west coast of Florida. Well, Katrina had other things in mind.

Fortunately they were found shipwrecked on a mangrove island, safe and sound, after the storm had passed. Can you say get-tome-itis? The owner's comment (I won't call him the captain) was that he knew there was a tropical storm coming but didn't know about it strengthening into a hurricane. Like a tropical storm is OK in a 24-foot boat?!?!?!?
 
Yup; there are fools in every type of transportation. The "boat" we were on, however, was one of Casco Bay Lines ferries which is long enough to hold five or six motor vehicles. Hence, she's pretty stable in most conditions.
