Now that we have a cover and keys to lock the plane, I'd like to leave my portable nav/com in the plane. As such, I want to be able to keep it charged in the plane. All I have right now is the 120v wall wart charger it came with. I see Icom sells a $50 lighter plug charger for it, which has a huge DC-DC Converter to handle 12-24 volt systems. We have a 12 volt system now and will never need or want anything else.

The radio's charger port says "DC 11v". The official Icom 120v wall wart power supply it came with to charge the radio is output 12v 0.3 amps. The official Icom lighter plug charger is output DC 11v 3 amp. By all this, I'm thinking 13-14 volts from ships power is probably going to be too much? I wanted to ask in case someone else has done this and confirms it is or isn't ok?

Perhaps it would be better to mount something like this in the plane. The input on this is up to 15v at 1 amp.
