I watched an old season 2 episode of ice pilots where they suspended Joe Mcbryan's license for 10 days from an incident 2 years before where they accused him of flying in fog. There was a lake near the airport. How can they determine the fog at the airport? He seems to be an ace pilot with ultimate concern for his clients. Why do bureaucrats have to be such douches?

Joe said they can take this piece of paper but they cant take his ability to fly. Maybe Joe Mcbryan is John Galt?

How dare you question our royal overlords immense wisdom?

I suppose they figure if there was a reporting station that said there was fog, even if there actually wasn't, then they'd go by that.

Wow.,,, there is some justice. 2 years later? Seems rather vindictive. What did that accomplish other than kicking him in the nuts?

That seems to be of the moa of the gov't nowadays. We keep the wheels turning on the motherland and get taxed, fined and sue'd at every corner.

I got dinged once for landing VFR at an airport with weather reporting. It was reporting the weather in part as 001 OVC vis1/8mile. RVR 600 FT.

Problem was, the actual weather was CAVU. Fortunately for me the real weather observer, a live human being and on duty at the time, agreed with me so the FAA backed off on that one.

I learned later that Anchorage Center was listening to the ATIS and the frequency, heard the AWOS and me and thought I was being one of those wild bush pilots that ignores all and does all to make money. Then someone there turned my tail number and all information needed to the FAA to start an investigation. The feds traced it to me as the PIC, and then the fun began.
