The best thing is a spring style center punch, you just push the point into the glass and click BANG, the window turns to BBs.
 
I head some of the subhuman trash in South Africa uses spark plugs to hit and bust windows.

Many auto dealers sell anti-smash and grab window tint, it's nearly as thick as a credit card.
