From my perspective the sad part of this is that the truly amazing jets we have (think these, the SR71, Concorde, etc.) are so complex that they will all be relegated to static display eventually. Now the complexity is needed for the mission, I get it, but the WW1 and WW2 planes will be flying long past when all of these jets are parked for good since they are just simple machines that can be kept going with appropriate machining tools and skills.

Of course the flying aspect shouldn't be understated either, you need people who are proficient in flying these planes as well, moreso than the old WW1/2 stuff (at least I figure, maybe I'm wrong) and that's another hard thing to keep up with.
