Settling into 14C the other night listening to the spiel about extra charge for drinks, extra charge for food, extra charge for video service and remembering the extra charge to book a seat and check or carry on a bag, I thought to myself "I'm going to give my buddy Mike a ration of crap about his airline next time I see him. Then the captain starts his "welcome aboard..," announcement and I said "wait a minute! I know that voice! That's Mike!" I slipped up to the cockpit where the door was still open and said to his back "how much extra I s a cockpit tour?" He cringed like "I've heard all I can stand about the nickel and dime you to death a la carte charges" but then recognized me and invited me in.

Points out to the aircrews... Be extra friendly and nice... you never know if one of the members of your favorite aviation forum or hangar flying crew might be on board.

I tried to look inside the cockpit every time I board a commercial airline. I almost get body slammed by the fight attendant.

And these days, most flight attendants are certainly capable of performing said body slam - provided they can get their hips through the isle. ;)

I make small talk with them. They love it and it works wonders.

Then, I look in the cockpit. The Maddog is still my favorite.

I've got a ton of friends who are United pilots. I fear one day I'm going to hear "Your captain today is Xxx yyy" and I'm going to go running up yelling "Let Me OFF!"

I don't understand how you can be a flight attendant even though you wouldn't be allowed to sit in an exit row due to your need for a seatbelt extender.
