Hey.

I bought an I-Pad 3, second hand. There was already an apple e-mail account and password needed for running updates and I can't figure out how to delete it and input mine.

Does anyone have any experience doing this?

Sure. Go to settings, iTunes and Apps. Tap the username that is there and select sign out.

I get SETTINGS but seem to have no iTunes button there. Any suggestions would be very greatly appreciated.

Perhaps this screenshot can help.

After going into settings look for the highlighted option I've selected.

OK
That's the problem. There is no button as you show on mine. Gotta think about how to get it showing., i suspect.

I have an iTunes Wifi Sync button in GENERAL settings but no iTunes App button

I made you a video.

First: THANKS
It gets kind of strange, here. I added apps that I wanted, used my Apple ID and password. When I try to update apps, the box pops up with an old apple ID asking for someone else's password. Might have to get apple to help with this.

You're best bet is to reset it back to factory settings and start fresh. Otherwise, delete any existing apps and add them under your ID. They currently belong to the original purchaser and you won't be able to update them under his account.

Hey.
Thanks! That makes perfect sense.

As Loren mentioned, I would highly recommend that you do a full reset, and doing it now may save you from some grief in the future.

Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content And Settings

You'll have to load the non-Apple content back onto the device, as well as customize the settings to your preferences, but you would probably be doing that anyway.

Scary that the previous owner didn't know enough to do this before selling it to a stranger. Assuming it was a stranger :wink2:

It was indeed a stranger but in her defense, I don't think she ever used it after her daughter set the thing up and loaded it with whatever she thought her mom needed.

I did reset the device and reloaded my set of apps and settings. Thanks for the advice all.
