Otherwise I love the way the wings lift and the prop bites into that cold, dense air.
It also helps to have a hangar and an engine heater.
Flew this AM early to get one last flight logged in 2011. My timing was good - it's snowing now and sticking.
Anyway, the airplane surprised me by lifting off so soon (I was off the ground before the windsock -- about 650 feet).
I used the "Let it fly itself off the ground" method today.
Full nose down trim, brakes, full power, release and airborne at 40 MPH and still climbing. I had to push the nose forward a bit to pick up more speed (VX/Vy are close to 60 MPH).
