It's been 51 years since I flew a J-3 Cub. Back then I was 5' 7", 105 lbs and had size 8 1/2 shoes.
On Tuesday I had a chance to fly a J-3 with the 80 HP Continental.

Lesson #1
I (still) love flying the J-3 Cub. :D

Lesson #2
I'm now 6', 235 lb, and have size 12-Wide feet.
I decided to do some really steep, tight turns.
My right shoe jammed between the (right) front seat and the rub plate so hard I couldn't get it out. I lost almost 2,000 ft before I was able to release the rudder. :yikes:

Note to self: Get moccasins or slippers before next Tuesday, when I go up for my second J-3 flight in 51 years.

Yes, My first lesson when I did tailwheel was in the J3 and it was a very tight fit for my feet. I actually went to Wal-Mart after the first day and bought a narrow running/wrestling style shoe and that helped a lot.
Good thing you didn't go for spins right out of the gate:eek::yikes:

Reminds me of a quote from the movie "Burn After Reading":

"And what did we learn?"
"I don't know."
"I don't know either. I guess we learned not to do it again."
