I got a DJI Phantom 3 Drone. What is my outlook on these things now?

Well, actually...

At some point, that's just a crappy helicopter. Kinda pointless.

I got a drone for Xmas. Got it registered. Now I guess I need a jeweler to engrave it in extremely small lettering!

(Pardon the crappy photo...I took it with the crappy camera on my crappy iPad instead if the far superior camera on my superior droid phone.)

I bought a phantom 3 pro for my son for Christmas. We bought a $60 drone last year to see if he really liked them. It's amazing how much the phantom does. GPS tracking and stabilization is awesome, and the 4k video is unreal. The cheap drone had a small camera, but the phantom's gimbal stabilizes the camera, and there is virtually no bouncing around evident on the video.

Yeah, we're having a blast with ours. Mostly just gathering b-roll for future productions.
