what's up with the commercials? There were no Terry Tates, nothing really superb... the magic fridge was cute as was the beer-bear one... overall I think Bud took it. The baby Clydesdale brought a tear to my eye and the Bud-wave was pretty good although likely computer generated.

thoughts?

while it didnt make me tear up Beth, I think it was the winner :)

NO WAY! The Ameriquest Mortgage Ads were the best. The one on the plane and the first one. Forgoat what it was already but it was a hoot. Only thing original in my opinion.

I mostly saw them up until halftime.

GoDaddy's was good. They had 7 versions rejected before that was approved.

The magic fridge WAS the best.

The worst was the Budweiser "streaker." I think they've taken the "animals doing crazy things while the cowboys talk" thing way beyond the peaceful death it deserves.

Next worse was Burger King ripping off Mel Brooks and "The Producers." They have no shame.

They had so many "There was a twist there. Get it?" and going for the heart strings that missed the mark where I was going for the bathroom to retch. "Dad, why are you speeeking EEENGLISH."

I think there are a bunch of board rooms that should be calling meetings with the theme "Tell us why you should still have a job."

by far - the best commercial was the Diet Pepsi stunt commercial

Ugh, I disagree. The diet Pepsi ones were the worst. My favorites were, in no particular order:

Budweiser Lite beer got darker.
Mastercard MacGyver priceless
Budweiser Streaker

The worst ones were:
Budweiser Baby Clydesdale
Diet Pepsi Is a music star

I missed this magic fridge one. Was probably puking from the commercials that sucked.

Hospital. "I think that finally killed him."

You can view/download them at http://www.ameriquestmortgage.com/about_commercials.html or www.BudLight.com if you didn't get to see them the first time, or just want to see them again.

We died when the people were bowing before the table, praying for the "magic fridge" to re-appear.

The FedEx commercial was pretty good. Even took a Dilbertesque shot at typical management in the process.

And I liked the sheep streaker.

...either that or the officiating.

And what is with ABC and sound balance ? The opening show was just abysmal...even the Stones were struggling to sound better than a Karaoke session at the local bar.

was it just me, or did his reply to "why are you speaking EEEnglish" (for your future son) sound a little non-PC? (I totally agree with it by the way, just couldn't figure out why they threw that in there).

Ok, so it wasn't just me who noticed it!
Quite a few Seattle mystery penalties, and yet I didn't see a single Pittsburgh hold called even though I saw at least three of them real time without going to the replay.

I personally didn't care who won or lost, but I think the referees did. Granted, Seattle's play calling and game management was something out of pee wee league, but I think this was the worst Super Bowl officiating I can recall.

The commercials, in general, were not very entertaining. I agree with the officiating. Several bad calls that could have cost Seattle the game. I don't think Rothlisberger made it into the end zone either. :(

Possible, but it does look like the tip of the ball breaks the plane while he was still in the air. The quality of the video just wasn't good enough to give enough resolution to overturn the call on the field.

Not that I'm complaining, being a 'burgh boy. But, if the shoe was on the other foot...

An ugly game on both sides of the ball.

I don't think Ben got in on that play, but that didn't really bother me. What DID bother me is the referee originally raised his hand indicating the ball was down, then after Ben pushed the ball into the end zone (after being down) he calls it a TD. Very, very bad. The replay was inconclcusive. Had the referee said he was short, the replay would not have overturned the call.

The "push off" call was total BS. That has been happening all year and NEVER gets called. Suddenly in the Super Bowl you are going to change the way you've been calling games all year? Total crap.

I only got to see bits and pieces of the game, we wre kinda busy at work. (Including having deputies and some pilot friends looking for a possible downed plane....)

But I think the ref scrwed up big time with that call. Do the refs have a different camera that we don't get to see? Or do they look at the same thing we do?

Didn't see the magic fridge, saw the cutesy little clysdale pulling out the wagon, but we laughed the hardest at Fabio, Flavio.... whatever his name is.

Sorry, Seachickens, maybe next year.

Sure he did. As my dad used to say, the definition of "fact": The call made by a referee (or umpire, depending on the season). Of course, this was long before instant replay.

Nevertheless, I thought he got in. Not that I was rooting for (or against) either team.

Similar to the calls in the Patriots-Broncos playoff game. But it was also a similar situation: you can blame the officials, but the losing team was the primary architect of their loss.

LOL. Don't say that to any of the die-hard Chickenhawk fans.....they blame the refs. Most of my co-workers said that Seattle played great, and if the refs had been fair, they'd have won. I'm not convinced though. Seemed like every pass that SEA threw was incomplete.

I voted for GoDaddy. In spite of the fact that they were originally known for providing haven to many of the big-name spammers.

our comm center uses Go-Daddy as the email service provider... hehehe a civilian run, multi jursidictional public safety entity that uses a company who commercials were banned from TV! gotta love it!!

Cause the chat software cost $5.00. ;-)

Haven? They were only serving as domain registrars, or were the spammers really using them as hosting providers?

Maybe that's why they've been accused of overreacting. They recently have been slammed on sites like digg for suspending some domains that they've gotten complaints on.

I guess they can afford to clean up their act once they got enough recurring revenue to pay for the Super Bowl ads from legit users they no longer have to take whoever came along with dollars.

I'd have to see it again, the line was supposed to be the last "aha" twist because you were supposed to be so much of a beer-infused football fan that you didn't get it that they were in Spain, so the foreign language was the English they were speaking, not Spanish. I dunno why, but I had picked up on it by then so I thought that line was hitting me over the head with the "cute."

I got a little kick out of all of them really but missed the last part of the game so missed those. Besides the airplane one, the Clydesdales one was creative but I'd expect the beer drinking guys to go more for the foal breaking into a pony keg and chugging it or something like that. And the hamburger musical was well done too. I got my money's worth out of them all for the afternoon.

Golly, channel surfing I even watched some of the "Puppy Bowl" and the "Kitty Half-time" before the game and got a kick out of those critters romping around too.
