Here comes another one, and at the moment she is likely to be declared the most potent storm ever in the Carribean.

Current winds are listed as 175 MPH and central pressure is 884 millibars. If I have converted that correctly, that's 26.10 inches mercury. :hairraise: Try that on your Kollsman Window!

What a storm!

Irrelevant questions: Why are there no names for X, Y, or Z? Why do we go direct from Wilma to Greek? Also, why did we have Ophelia, and then Rita? Aren't they supposed to go girl-boy-girl-boy?

They don't use X, Y or Z. They start with the Greek Alphabet after W. Alpha, Beta.....

Hope they don't get to Omega!

Hurricane Philippe formed 9/17 WAY out east and never threatened North America.

I see a reading like that on a prog chart and automatically feel as if I cannot breathe. Dunno why. It's just the visual and the numbers.

I hope it winds down as fast as it blew up, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Stay safe, Floridians!

The 1st Q is a good Q and I have no answer. Every other YEAR they swap boy/girl. You just now noticing?

They're sticking to the pattern:

Ophelia, Phillipe, Rita, Stan, Tammy, (no U), Vince, Wilma
