How to become a DPE?

The weirdest checkride I ever did was in Alaska, of course. It was a VFR Pt 135 checkride in a 206 for a summer job.

The oral was a written test and I was given 30 minutes to finish it. It took me about 5 minutes, so I sat there in the examiners truck another 15 or so minutes.

Yes, I took the test in the examiners truck at the dirt runway bush strip.

While the examiner showed his 2 grandkids, both under 10 years of age, other airplanes.

I know someone will ask, the grandkids waited in the truck while we did the flight part.

I did a Cessna 206 VFR 135 ride with the Juneau FSDO and the oral was probably 5 minutes long. It was hardly worth the trip to the FSDO office. Could have been done sitting in the plane before the flight portion.
