How hot is it?

That's what happens when you use tar instead of cement as a surface material. I've done the same thing with my 450lb motorcycle a few times.

It took three HOURS to get the plane out? wTf?seems like you hook a tug and push it out in about 5 min.

1:25:00 to get the TSA/DHS there to verify it wasn't the dreaded tarmac weapon terrorist attack and to interrogate the pilots.
0:30:00 for the news media to come up with national news hype on how it almost destroyed DC and how to write it up in disjointed one sentence paragraphs ending in some unrelated story about a tire on a moped near an airplane in Kathmandu.
0:45:00 for lawsuits to be filed for emotional trauma of the plane violently stopping and nearly flipping over and exploding and killing everyone onboard.
0:10:00 to establish an emergency TFR.
0:05:00 for lawyers to blame it all on the vacuum pump that powers the airspeed indicator.
0:04:52 to get the tug there and yank it out of the La Brea Tar Pits.
0:00:08 for someone to blame it all on GA.

Three hours easy...

But.. but... how could that have happened??? You KNOW they had filed a flight plan! I'm baffled.

The cold front is sinking in here. 66f at 3500'. Had to close the vent!

So far, along the coast of San Diego where I'm lucky enough to live, the temperatures have been mild, if not downright cool, with zip humidity.

I hate the heat, especially when it's humid as well, always have. I genuinely feel bad for anyone who has to suffer through it, and I do wish that you all get relief soon.

It's a nice 70 degrees here forecast to be 76 by late afternoon.

Its hot enough here in Little Rock that road paint is peeling up. :yikes: Its coming up in batches solid enough that you can roll it up.

"......It's so hot I saw a little man in orange robes burst into flames!!..."

Robin Williams in Good Morning Vietnam. :D

Summer has officially arrived in the High Desert.... 92 at this moment on the old homestead, and KBDN is reporting current DA at 6000'

It's so hot here we don't need girls.

Ranchers in southern states hit be sweltering heat are selling fully cooked barbecue right from the livestock.

"We let the customer choose the cattle and then we hose it down with sauce and send it out into the fields. Within twenty minutes the barbecue is piping hot and ready to eat," said a Texas rancher.

=====================

A visitor to Texas once asked, "Does it ever rain out here?"

A rancher quickly answered "Yes, it does. Do you remember that part in the Bible where it rained for 40 days and 40 nights?"

The visitor replied, "Yes, I'm familiar with Noah's flood."

"Well," the rancher puffed up, "we got about two and a half inches of that."

How hot has it been? This is what happens when you leave that ice cream van in the sun too long...

Ironically, we've had three days of overcast and rain here. Nice and cool. Putting out the fires and causing mudslides where the vegetation has burnt now, instead.

So-called "monsoon" season has finally arrived. Probably won't last long.

109F today, 113F forecast high for Tues.
It did not get comfortable today until above 8500MSL, and it was still warm.
You could feel the heat when below 7500MSL.

What's funny is that while all of my buds in Iowa and Wisconsin have been baking in 100+ degree weather, we've been basking in perfect weather on the Texas gulf coast, barely breaking 90 degrees on the island, with a great ocean breeze keeping everything pleasant.

I just hope that heat-wave crap is GONE from Oshkosh before the fly-in. The hottest I have ever been was in a tent in OSH, circa 1988. It was unbearable.

:yeahthat: Wasn't there in '88, but know full well how unbearable it can be in the midwest during the summer without air conditioning.

When the weather's hot and sticky
That's no time to dip your dickey
When the frost is on the pumkin
That's the time for dickey dunkin'

Interesting news article about record highs and how they are mis-reported by alarmism.

There are 5,595 reporting weather stations in the US. Less than 1% had record highs this past week, yet the media would have you believe global warming is alive and well. "Record Heat Wave!" Run for your lives! :yikes:

News flash. 99% of the reporting weather stations did not set records. If you are still concerned about global warming take a look at the record lows for those reporting stations. ;)

It was as hot where I live once before, when I was in my buddy's outdoor wedding in a wool tuxedo.

On a more serious note, triple digit temperatures are indeed not unknown in the American midwest, and by themselves say nothing about climate change.
