How Does This Happen?

I must admit that I'm not sure what signs would indicate such a heinous act was forthcoming.
 
Signs:
Mother and 4 preschool children living alone in a trailer.
Mother depressed.
Restraining order to keep father away from mother and children.
Living in poverty

We need to find ways to help before desperate circumstances lead to desperate measures.

My heart goes out to all the victims of this crime.
