A few years ago, some of you will remember I did some photoshoots for POA members in Sedona, AZ. I meant to do this type of shoot every year or every two years, but life gets in the way! The last time we tried to schedule one, weather made it impossible.

So.... I've been looking for a new location to shoot and thought I could get some sweet photos with the famous Horseshoe Bend in the background. I'm just starting to think about this, so I'm looking for input from anyone that's been there.

I see it's a No Drone Zone, any other restrictions I should worry about?
How about Page Municipal Airport? Any PIREPS? Looks like a good place to base for a shoot.
There are several places to stay that are within walking distance. Any you'd recommend? Grandview Inn Bed and Breakfast looks nice.
There are a lot of beautiful canyons there. Other areas you'd recommend?
Time of the year to do this?

I am sure it will look nice as a backdrop.
I think that Lake Powell would also be an interesting background.
There are C207 tours circling around the bend and lake powell, so check their altitudes and air-to-air frequencies.
Have fun!

We went to Horshoe Bend by RV (road) a few years ago. It's awesome for sure. Gave me the willies when my kids go a little close to the edge....(they weren't all that close but I'm afraid of heights)
I think that they put up a railing since we were there. If I recall correctly, it's indian land and they regulate it. I think that there were some rules...but I'm sure that's mostly or all ground-based stuff....

A similar alternative for you in that general area is an area I mapped out to stop for the night but ended up not staying there because the timing wasn't right. It's just up the road from Monument Valley. https://maps.app.goo.gl/hdmUHZtCRtwDeCfS8

It is now pay to get there from the parking lot, can be crowded at sunset. Flying over can be busy, position is announced re "the shoe". I like Classic Aviation, although American is good too. You can walk to the Hyatt from the airport. Very short hop to Marble Canyon L41 for breakfast. Avoid the paid slot canyon tours, with a bit of research you can find free within reach if you have rental car. Monument Valley and UT25 are a short flight.

Good tip. I'll make sure to talk to the C207 guys!

Pay to get into the park? I probably won't go there on the ground, don't know if I'll have a rental car or not.
