Honorary Commercial Pilot? (FAA made a mistake)

So yesterday I checked the mail as usual and brought it in. I put it in the mail pile that we have, nobody tends to look through it. I accidentally knocked over the bin and as I was picking letters up I came across a letter from the FAA.

The letter can be summarized with four little words...

EMERGENCY ORDER OF REVOCATION

I fell out laughing! I laughed for a good 10 minutes or so. I am laughing because I do not have a commercial certificate! It alleges that I operated in a reckless manner and that my Commercial certificate is to immediately be revoked! Did I get an honorary certificate for being so obsessed with aviation? Nope. It also came with a summary of what occurred.

Place: WA09-Roche Harbor!
Date: 9/13/2011
Aircraft: Cessna 402

What did "I" do?
It says that several witnesses observed me buzzing and doing "mild" aerobatic maneuvers over a populated area.

This is obviously a mix up. The troubling part is that it has MY # on it! Explain how a STUDENT Pilot Certificate # even got used! I called the FSDO and found out that yes, it was a mix-up and that the actual pilot has the same exact name (including suffix) and DOB (not year!). The correct pilot lives in Greendale,WI while I live in Greenbelt,MD. Both towns, interestingly enough, were created by the "New Deal" by FDR.

We had a brief disagreement about whether or not I did it but they got the idea when I asked how I flew a multi-engined plane in a state that's on the other side of the country when I am 16. I've only flown into WA09 in FSX, and that was in a Do 228!

Everything is now cleared up. I guess nobody caught it.
I want to frame the paper. I needed the laugh though!

P.S. The lady at the FSDO was funny. When I called she didn't greet me/say anything about the FAA or FSDO. I said, "hello?" She replied with " UMM Yes HELLO!?" I asked to place an order for delivery, that broke the ice!

This could be good - you can do anything you want, then blame the other guy!

omgosh, the stuff of nightmares.
Once you get it sorted out, I would want a letter (which you will safely keep forever in a safe place) stating that there was an identification error made and your record is clean.
I would also try to check your record in about a year to ensure they cleaned your FAA computer file.

Wow, what a great hangar story--you need to keep the letter, YES!

"Dear FAA: I would be happy to return my commercial pilot certificate, if I had one."

omgosh, the stuff of nightmares.

Ditto that

I've been having a ton of issues lately with a local utility company that has terrible customer service. I paid my bill and the national HQ kept sending me bills with "final notice" etc.. written. Every time I got one i'd call the office and they would check and tell me that my account balance was $0 (meaning I had paid). This went on for 3-4 months and the national office even sent my info to a bill collector. I'd call the national office and they would tell me to call the local office.

Finally after I got calls from a bill collector I was able to get the local office to call off the dogs. I demanded a written statement be sent to me showing that my balance was $0 but I never got one. I still worry about that. I did call the collection agency and they told me "the issue had been resolved". I asked them for that statement in writing too. Never got it.

This company has the absolute worst customer service rating I have ever seen on a local online rating website. http://raleigh.citysearch.com/profile/6161398/garner_nc/amerigas.html#profileTab-reviews

They'll never do anything about it because they are a utility and have a monopoly on the gas business in the area.

Sorry for the side-rant. I'd frame that letter too!

I already copied this letter, saved a PDF, saved one online, and requested a letter formally announcing the error and re-identifying myself. I couldn't find myself on the FAA's site but maybe I'm searching wrong.

In theory "I" have a lot of freedom! A Cessna T-50 was mentioned on the phone (asked if I flew it on 10/12) so I assume that the guy has a tail wheel sign off too!

i love that letter. guessing he never paid?
Not that I'm aware of. He firmly believed that he operated farm equipment and therefore was not regulated by the FAA. All he had was some yellow tractors with wings.
